Outline Planning Schemes for District Council Areas

The District Council Planning Schemes were revised and approved in September 2006. They underwent all legal procedures required under the Town and Country Planning Act 1954 and constitute a statutory document for the location of activities and conditions under which they may be allowed. They have a time period of around 10 years and cater for development up to 2015. This new generation of planning instruments has an inbuilt flexible approach and caters for a variety of locations and users. As such the previously cumbersome rezoning of land procedure associated with outline schemes is no longer required.

The Outline Schemes are available for sale at the Town and Country Planning Board office at Rs 5000. per copy of each scheme. Because they have accompanying bulky maps enclosure, soft copies are not available.
