Environment Protection (Effluent Limitations for the Sugar
Industry) Regulations 1997

under section 34 of the Environment Protection Act 1991
These regulations may be cited as the Environment Protection
(Effluent Limitations for the Sugar Industry) Regulations
1997.
The national environmental standards in relation to effluent
limitations for the sugar industry shall be as set out in
the Schedule.
Paragraph (1) shall apply to effluents discharged underground
or into a river, stream, spring, canal, reservoir or lake
by a factory.
(3) Any effluent which-
(a) has one or more of the parameters specified in the first column f the Schedule;
(b) does not comply with the corresponding limit specified int eh second or
third column of the Schedule, as the case may be; and
(c) is discharged from a factory,
shall be deemed to be a pollutant.
