Rivers and Canals Act 1863 including the Amended Act of 1968

Abstract

An act that deals with the control, pollution, waste and environmental effect in Mauritius and all rivers and streams are public property (du domaine public)

No person shall draw water from any river or stream for the use of himself, his family without the authorization of the Supreme Court.

Except with the authorization of the Supreme Court, no person shall stop or change the course or level of or make any dam, or construction of any kind in the course of any stream that is public property.
