The
Fisheries and Marine Resources Act 1999.
In force: 20th November 1999 Abstract
This Act that
deals with the protection of marine and aquatic resources,
the control of fishing activities within prohibited fishing
areas, license issued to foreign vessels and the protection
of the aquatic ecosystem amongst others.
Part II of the Act deals with the Consultative Committee
set up by the Minister to deal with matters of general
policy on fisheries and marine resources. Part
III deals with Fish Farming whereas Part IV deals with the control of fishing
activities including the control of prohibited fishing methods, protection
and restriction on landing and of sale of fish.
Part V deals with the Restriction on Import and Export of fish including
the importation of live fish and fishing vessel. Part VI is concerned with
Licensing
of the Nets and Implements (Sub-Part A) and Sub Part B is concerned with
Boats and Vessel including the license to be issued to foreign vessel engaged
in
fishing with its conditions and validity. Part VII deals with the obligations
relating to Boats and Vessels whereas Part VIII is concerned with the Enforcing
the power to enter and search and seizure of fish amongst others.
Part IX and X deal with the Offences and Penalties committed under section
