Authority Act 2002
In force 1st June 2002 (Act 7 of 2002)
Abstract
This Act deals
with the proper control and management of public beaches
in Mauritius
and Rodrigues. There is established
under section 3 an authority to deal with the conservation
and protection of public beaches (section 5) including leisure
activities, infrastructural and landscaping works, control
of commercial activities and cleaning of public beaches.
The Act under section 6 gives the power delegated under section 7 by the appropriate
ministry to deal with the proper administration of public beaches. There is
also set up in this Act a board under section 7 to assist the Authority in
the proper management of its duties.
Part III and IV of the Act deal with the financial matters of the authority
and the legal proceedings including notices, contravention and the role of
the police respectively.
Comment
This Act also amends
the Central
Tender Board Act, the Trade and Industries
Classification Act, the Public Gatherings
Act and
the Local
Government Act.
