Animal Diseases Act 1925
Abstract
This Act deals with the importation,
procedures, diseases of animals. It also has the aspect
of power of verification, control and quarantine of animals
coming from abroad.
Part II of the Act deals mainly with the procedure of the importation of
animals, such as the proper veterinary certificate (section 3), the inspection
at various port of entry of animals, suspected infected animals including
animals in transit (section 7, 8 and 11) and the offences under section 10.
Under section 12, the Act imposes on owners of infected animals to notify
same to veterinary officers and section 13, 14 and 15 deals with methods
of reports and declaration of disease and orders to be made to free those
areas form diseases and infections.
Part IV of the Act deals mainly with the power of entry for inspection exercises
of officers for investigators including the power of entry with warrant issued
by a magistrate and the penalties to those who contravene any provisions
and regulations of the Act.
