Retailers (Sale of Simple Medicines) Regulations 1989

Regulations made by the Minister under section 47 of the
Pharmacy Act
Every person who holds a General Retailer's Licence and
wishes to sell simple medicines may apply to the Permanent
Secretary for authority to do so.
Every application made under regulation 3 shall give the
following particulars-
(a) the full name and address of the applicant;
(b) the number of his licence;
(c) the address where he carries on his business of general
retailer;
(d) the person who is in charge of the business from day
to day.
The Permanent Secretary shall, on receipt of an application
and upon being satisfied that the applicant is a fit and
proper person who can comply with regulation 6, authorise
him to sell the simple medicines-
(a) specified in the First Schedule if the applicant carries
on his business of general retailer in the island, of Mauritius;
or
(b) specified in the Second Schedule if the applicant carries
on his business of general retailer in Rodrigues.
Every person who is authorised to sell simple medicines
shall store the medicines-
(a) in a dry and hygienic place; and
(b) in a cupboard or showcase which is exclusively used
for storing such medicines.
No person who is not a pharmacist shall sell any simple
medicine except with the authorisation of the Permanent
Secretary.
No person who is authorised to sell simple medicines shall
sell them otherwise than at the shop specified in the authority
issued to him.
